As the country reopens, and Washingtonians re-emerge from quarantine for more merry socializing, WHINO, located at 4238 Wilson Blvd. on the second floor of Ballston Quarter, is the new colorful canvas for one to experience delicious exploration events, as well as Extended Happy Hour (3 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday), and After Hours from (9 p.m. to 2 a.m., Thursday through Saturday). On Saturday nights, DJ entertainment will enrich the late-night vibe.
What better way to kick off after work fun starting with Executive Chef Terry Natas’ bar favorite snacks such as Skate Wing PoBoy, Wagu Beer Sliders, and the Porchetta Slider, (ranging from $5 to $6), to complete $10 wine tastings of 1.5 ounce pours of four featured wines, exclusively offered at Happy Hour. Featured cocktails at Happy Hour are priced at $8 and include the Daiquiri, Mait Tai, and Rum Old Fashioned, all from our Make Your Own Summer Event. Sparking, white, and red wines by the glass are priced at $6 each, with domestic beers offered for $5.
After Hours snacking features Cheesy Polenta Tempertots, Wagu Beef Sliders and Telly’s Gyro (ranging in price from $7 to $12), and these can be enjoyed as nighttime fun begins with a $15 wine tasting which one chooses their own four wines of 1.5 ounce pours by the glass, (with 17 varietals to choose from currently). This $15 tasting is also offered throughout service at WHINO. Spirit tastings of tequila, bourbon and whiskey flights will also be showcased to invite exploration.
One can enjoy one ounce pours of different liquors during After Hours. An example is WHINO’s Heaven Hill Bourbon tasting for $20. Each guest receives a one ounce pour of 4 different bourbons: Elijah Craig Bourbon; Elijah Craig Rye; Larceny Bourbon, and Evan Williams Black. The tastings WHINO will be offering, from week-to-week, will vary widely. Upcoming spirits notables such as a Remy Cognac tasting with Louis XIII in September, and a Macallan Tasting are planned for fall 2021.
In addition to these tasting experiences, WHINO will showcase food and beverage ticketed events, that are both delicious and educational. Patrons can explore what events are happening each month by visiting https://www.whinova.com/events to sign up for information and secure tickets. WHINO will be showcasing wine, spirits, and beer events Monday-Wednesday. Events will be ticked and will range in price depending on what they are sampling. Patrons will glean a broader understanding and appreciation for what the restaurant is serving for these special gatherings.
